--- title: "Billing" description: >- TIR Virtual Machine pricing: On-Demand per-minute billing, storage charges, and what is not billed. --- # Billing TIR Virtual Machines support two billing models: **On-Demand (hourly/per-minute)** and **Committed**. On-Demand pricing lets you pay only for active compute time. Committed billing lets you reserve a VM for a fixed period at a lower rate, with the full amount charged upfront. --- ## 1. On-Demand Pricing On-Demand pricing is calculated **per minute**, so you are charged only for actual compute time. ### How Billing Works | Event | Billing Status | |-------|---------------| | VM enters **Running** state | Billing starts | | VM enters **Stopped** state | Billing pauses | | VM is **restarted** | Billing resumes | | VM is **deleted** | Billing stops permanently | > You are not billed while the VM is in the **Waiting** (provisioning) state. ### Example If the hourly rate for your VM plan is ₹90/hr and you run it for 20 minutes: ``` Hourly Rate : ₹90/hr Usage : 20 minutes ₹90 ÷ 60 = ₹1.50 per minute ₹1.50 × 20 = ₹30 total billed ``` --- ## 2. Committed Billing Committed billing lets you reserve a VM for a fixed duration at a lower rate compared to On-Demand pricing. The full amount is charged upfront at the time of VM creation, making it ideal for long-running, predictable workloads. > Before creating a committed VM, ensure your account has sufficient credits to cover the full committed price. The total amount is deducted immediately upon creation. ### Available Commitment Periods Available commitment periods: **1 Month**, **3 Months**, and **6 Months**. > The longer the commitment period, the lower the effective rate compared to On-Demand billing. ### How Billing Works | Event | Billing Status | |-------|---------------| | VM is **created** | Full committed amount deducted upfront | | VM is **running** | No additional compute charges during the period | | VM is **deleted before period ends** | No refund for the remaining period | ### Example If you launch a 1-month committed VM on **June 5, 2026**, the full amount is deducted immediately and your VM runs until **July 5, 2026** with no additional compute charges. ```bash Committed Plan : 1 Month Start Date : June 5, 2026 End Date : July 5, 2026 Amount Deducted : ₹X,XXX (upfront, at launch) Additional Cost : ₹0 during the 1-month period ``` > Committed VMs cannot be stopped during the commitment period. They can only be deleted. **No refunds are issued for the remaining commitment period upon deletion.** --- ## 3. Storage Billing Your VM's workspace disk is billed **independently** from compute time. Storage charges continue even when the VM is stopped, and stop only when the VM (and its disk) is explicitly deleted. | Storage Type | Billed Independently | |-------------|---------------------| | **Workspace Disk** | Yes — continues while VM exists, even when stopped | | **Attached Datasets** | Yes — billed under Dataset pricing, not VM pricing | | **Shared File System (SFS)** | Yes — billed under SFS pricing | :::tip To avoid unexpected storage charges, delete any storage resources you no longer need after deleting the VM. ::: --- ## 4. What Is Not Billed The following features are included at no additional charge: | Feature | Details | |---------|---------| | **SSH Keys** | Adding, rotating, or removing SSH keys is free | | **Security Groups** | Creating and attaching Security Groups is free | | **Reserved IP attachment** | Attaching a Reserved IP to a VM is free; the Reserved IP itself may have a separate charge | | **Startup Scripts** | Creating and running startup scripts is free | | **VM provisioning time** | The Waiting state (while the VM is being provisioned and booting) is not billed | --- ## 5. Cost Estimation Use the [E2E Pricing Calculator](https://calculator.e2enetworks.com/) to estimate your VM cost based on the GPU plan, vCPU/RAM configuration, storage size, and expected usage hours per month. ---
