--- title: "Pricing" description: "Slab-based pricing, peak usage billing, and cost examples for Object Storage" --- # Pricing Object Storage is billed on **peak usage per calendar month**, in two slabs, plus data transfer. ## Storage Pricing | Slab | Peak usage per calendar month | Monthly rate (excluding GST) | Notes | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | **Slab 0** | 0 GB to 250 GB | ₹625 flat | Charged as a flat amount anywhere in this range | | **Slab 1** | Beyond 250 GB | ₹2.5/GB | Applied to peak usage for the month | **Data transfer:** ₹3/GB. Capacity is not pre-allocated — the bucket grows with your data, and there is nothing to resize. ### What Peak Usage Means Peak usage is the **highest** amount of storage the bucket reaches at any point during the calendar month. The bill is calculated on that peak, not on the average or the end-of-month figure. **Example:** | Period | Stored | | :--- | :--- | | Day 1–10 | 100 GB | | Day 11–20 | 400 GB (peak) | | Day 21–30 | 200 GB | You are charged for **400 GB** → 400 × ₹2.5 = **₹1,000**. :::tip Deleting data late in the month does not lower that month's bill, because the peak has already been reached. Delete early, or use a [lifecycle rule](./Features.mdx#lifecycle-rules) so cleanup happens continuously. ::: ### Versioning and Cost Every object version is stored and billed. With versioning enabled, overwriting a 10 GB file ten times leaves 100 GB on the bill, not 10 GB. Pair versioning with a lifecycle rule so old versions expire. --- ## Worked Examples ### 100 GB of image data Peak usage stays inside Slab 0, so the charge is the **₹625 flat rate** regardless of whether you store 10 GB or 250 GB. The same data on a 100 GB disk would cost ₹1,000. ### 500 GB of video data Peak usage is in Slab 1: 500 × ₹2.5 = **₹1,250**. On disk, 500 GB would cost ₹5,000. ### Data growing from 50 GB to 300 GB Object Storage scales automatically, so the bill moves from ₹625 (Slab 0) to 300 × ₹2.5 = **₹750** as the data grows, with no action from you. A disk would need a manual resize at each step and would reach ₹3,000. --- ## Estimate Your Cost Use the [E2E pricing calculator](https://calculator.e2enetworks.com/estimate-pricing) for a full estimate. --- ## Cost Optimization - **Pick the right type.** Use Object Storage for large, shared, or growing data; a disk only when you need read-write access or low-latency random reads at a small, predictable size. - **Expire what you do not need.** [Lifecycle rules](./Features.mdx#lifecycle-rules) remove temporary data and old versions automatically. - **Compress before uploading.** Fewer, denser files cost less and upload faster. Prefer efficient formats such as Parquet over CSV. - **Watch the peak.** A short-lived spike sets the month's bill. Stage large intermediate work on a disk and move only the result into Object Storage. --- ## Frequently Asked Questions **Am I charged for data transfer?** Yes, at ₹3/GB. Check your billing details for the full transfer breakdown. **Can I switch an existing bucket to Block Storage to save cost?** No. A bucket cannot be converted into a disk. Create a Block Storage disk and copy the data across. **Is encryption free?** Yes. Both E2E Managed and User Managed encryption are provided at no extra cost. **Do delete markers and old versions count toward my bill?** Old versions do. Use a lifecycle rule to expire them.
