The node keeps its existing recovery points. ## Before you begin The node must be running, with its first backup finished. ## Change the plan, compression, or excluded paths 1. In **Manage CDP Backups**, open the node's **Actions** menu and click **Change Schedule**. **Backup Schedule Configuration** opens with the current settings. You can also open it with the pencil beside **Backup Schedule Mode** on the node's **CDP Backup Details** tab. 2. To back up more or less often, or to keep recovery points for longer, choose another plan in **Select backup schedule mode**. The dialog shows how often the new plan runs and which recovery points it keeps. The new plan updates the recent, daily, weekly, and monthly counts. The yearly count stays as it was set when you turned backup on. 3. To change compression, choose **ZLib** or **QuickLZ** in **Compression Type**, and for ZLib a **Compression Level**. The higher the level, the smaller and slower each backup. 4. To change which files are left out, edit the paths in **Exclude folder/file**, separated by commas. Each path must be absolute, such as `/var/log` on Linux or `C:\Windows\Temp` on Windows. The field refuses `/` on its own and any path that contains `//`. To back up everything again, clear the field. If `/e2e-backup-restore` is listed, keep it. MyAccount adds this path after a restore to keep restored files out of the backup. 5. Click **Change Schedule**. The button is available once you have changed something. You set encryption when you turn backup on, and this dialog has no encryption setting. Turning backup off deletes every recovery point the node has. To change encryption, turn backup off and turn it on again. See [Backup encryption](/myaccount/cdp-backup/concepts/backup-encryption/). ## Check the new schedule On the node's **CDP Backup Details** tab, **Backup Schedule Mode** shows the new plan, and **Backup Schedule Time (IST)** and **Next Backup Scheduled Run** show when it runs next. The next backups follow the new settings. To run one straight away, see [Run a backup now](/myaccount/cdp-backup/how-to/run-a-backup-now/). If **Change Schedule** is not available, see [Troubleshooting CDP Backup](/myaccount/cdp-backup/troubleshooting/cdp-backup/#change-schedule-or-backup-now-is-not-available).
