--- title: "View backup history and usage" description: "See every CDP Backup run and restore for a node, and how much backup storage it uses, with a CSV report to download." content_type: "how-to" product: "cdp-backup" platform: "MyAccount" url: "/myaccount/cdp-backup/how-to/view-backup-history-and-usage/" topic: ["monitor-and-manage"] relationships: {"requires":["/myaccount/cdp-backup/how-to/turn-on-cdp-backup/"]} --- # View backup history and usage Each backed-up node has a history of its backup runs, a history of its restores, and a usage report that shows how its backup storage grows. Use them to confirm that backups run on schedule, to follow a restore, and to understand the storage part of your bill. ## Before you begin Wait for the node's first backup to finish. The history and usage tabs appear in **Manage CDP Backups** once it has. ## See the backup runs In **Manage CDP Backups**, click the node and open its **Backup Task History** tab. Each backup run is listed with **Task Name**, **Task Status**, **Task Start At (IST)**, **Task End At (IST)**, and **Duration (in seconds)**. Scheduled and **Backup Now** runs both show **Backup** as the **Task Name**. **Task Status** reads **Finished** once a run completes. A run that ended in an error reads **Backup Provisioning Failed** in **Task Status**. To see why a backup failed, open the node's **CDP Backup Details** tab: it shows the error and the **Backup Failed Date**. E2E also emails you when a node's backup is failing. ## See the restores In **Manage CDP Backups**, click the node and open its **Restore Task History** tab. Each restore is listed with the same columns as **Backup Task History**. **Task Status** reads **Finished** once a restore completes. If it reads **Failed** or **Warning**, check the restored files and the email E2E sends when the restore ends. See [Troubleshooting CDP Backup](/myaccount/cdp-backup/troubleshooting/cdp-backup/#the-restore-failed). ## See the backup storage Open the node's **Backup Usage Report** tab. It lists: - **Created At (IST)**: when the usage was measured. - **CDP Usage**: the total size of the node's backups at that time. - **Increment Value**: how much the backups grew or shrank since the entry before. **Date Range** shows the last 15 days at first. To look further back, choose other dates, up to today. Each calendar month, E2E bills CDP Backup storage at the largest size the backups reached that month. For the rates, see [E2E's pricing page](https://www.e2enetworks.com/pricing). ## Download the usage report To keep the report or work with it in a spreadsheet, choose the **Date Range** and click **CSV**. The file has one row for each time usage was measured. Each row holds: - the node's name, and its public and private IP addresses - the disk usage, which is the total backup storage the node uses, and the incremental usage since the row before - when the row was created and updated (IST), and the report time - your CRN Incremental usage is zero when nothing changed since the row before, and negative when the backups shrank. You can now tell whether a node's backups run on time and how much storage they use. To cut the storage a node needs, leave out paths you do not need backed up; see [Change the backup schedule](/myaccount/cdp-backup/how-to/change-the-backup-schedule/). If backups are failing, see [Troubleshooting CDP Backup](/myaccount/cdp-backup/troubleshooting/cdp-backup/).
