--- title: "Delete a project, repository, or artifact" description: "Delete one artifact, a repository with all its artifacts, or a whole Container Registry project with everything in it." content_type: "how-to" product: "container-registry" platform: "MyAccount" url: "/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/delete-a-project-repository-or-artifact/" topic: ["lifecycle"] relationships: {"requires":["/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/create-a-registry-project/"]} --- # Delete a project, repository, or artifact Delete a single artifact, a repository with every artifact in it, or a whole registry project with everything it holds. To remove only untagged images, use Image Cleanup instead; see [Clean up unused images](/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/clean-up-unused-images/). ## Before you begin - You have pulled or copied elsewhere any image you want to keep. See [Push and pull images](/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/push-and-pull-images/). - If you are a team member, your role has the delete permission for Container Registry. ## Delete an artifact Deleting an artifact removes it and every tag on it. 1. In MyAccount, under **Storage**, click **Container Registry**, and click your project. On its **Repositories** tab, click the repository's name. Its **Info** tab lists the artifacts. 2. Open the artifact's menu and click **Delete**. 3. Confirm **Are you sure you want to delete Artifact?**, which names the artifact by its digest. The artifact leaves the list, and **Storage Used** on the **Image Cleanup** tab goes down. ## Delete a repository Deleting a repository deletes every artifact in it. 1. In MyAccount, under **Storage**, click **Container Registry**, and click your project. On its **Repositories** tab, open the repository's **Actions** menu and click **Delete**. 2. **Confirm Delete Repository** asks **Are you sure you want to delete / Repository?** Confirm to delete it. The repository leaves the list, and **Storage Used** on the **Image Cleanup** tab goes down. ## Delete a project Deleting a project deletes its replication rules, its source registries, and every repository and artifact in it, then the project itself. None of it can be recovered. Before you delete a project, stop any replication run that is in progress. To stop a run, click the rule on the **Replications Rules** tab, and in the run's menu click **Stop**; see [Create a replication rule](/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/create-a-replication-rule/#run-the-rule). 1. In MyAccount, under **Storage**, click **Container Registry**. In the project list, open your project's **Actions** menu and click **Delete**. **Confirm Delete Project** opens. 2. Check **I understand and I want to delete my Project: ?**, which makes **Delete** available. 3. Click **Delete**. The project reads **Terminating** until it is gone, and E2E emails the account's owner that the deletion has started. The project is billed by the minute until its deletion completes. Once it is gone, the project leaves the list. If the deletion is refused, see [Troubleshooting Container Registry](/myaccount/container-registry/troubleshooting/container-registry/#execution-for-replication-rule-is-in-progress-please-stop-it-first). To start again, see [Create a registry project](/myaccount/container-registry/how-to/create-a-registry-project/).
