The new DBaaS instance runs in the replica's own region, which can be different from the primary's. ## Before you begin - The replica is **Running**. - On a prepaid account, you have enough infra credits to run the new DBaaS instance for about 24 hours. ## Promote the replica 1. On the primary's **Read Replica** tab, in the replica's row menu, click **Promote to Master Node**. 2. Enter a **Master Node Name**: up to 50 characters, using letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens. 3. Promotion is permanent: the new DBaaS instance runs on its own from then on. Check **By proceeding, I acknowledge and agree to these changes.** 4. Click **Promote to Master Node**. You see **Conversion Successful**. You now have a separate DBaaS instance on the DBaaS list: manage, connect to, and delete it like any other. To point your application at it, see [Connect to a DBaaS instance](/myaccount/database/how-to/connect-to-a-database/).
