If you have lost the password, a reset is how you get back in. ## Before you begin Wait until the DBaaS instance has finished **Creating** and **Deploying**. ## Reset the password 1. On the DBaaS instance's **DBaaS Details** tab, under **Connection Details**, in the **Password** row, click the password reset link. 2. Enter a **New Password** and the same value in **Confirm New Password**, or click **Use Suggested Password**. The new password must be 16 to 30 characters, start and end with a letter, and use letters, numbers, and ! # _ $ & * ? @ in between. This rule differs from the one at creation. 3. Copy the new password and keep it somewhere safe. 4. Click **Reset Password**. The reset usually takes less than a minute, and you get an email when it is complete. Once the email arrives, the new password is ready to use. Update any application or script that connects to the DBaaS instance; see [Connect to a DBaaS instance](/myaccount/database/how-to/connect-to-a-database/). If you still cannot sign in, see [Troubleshooting DBaaS](/myaccount/database/troubleshooting/database/#error-1045-access-denied-or-no-encryption-when-you-connect).
