You add a domain you already own, add its records, and then point the domain to E2E's nameservers at your domain registrar. From then on, the records you add in MyAccount are the answers the internet gets for your domain. Buy the domain from a registrar first; E2E hosts domains and does not register or sell them. DNS is also where you set reverse DNS for your servers: the name an IP address returns when someone looks the address up. A mail server needs it, and you can set it yourself. You find DNS in MyAccount under **Network**. Its list page is **Manage DNS**. ## What you can do - [Add a domain](/myaccount/dns/how-to/add-a-domain/), and see the records E2E creates for it. - [Point your domain to E2E nameservers](/myaccount/dns/how-to/point-your-domain-to-e2e-nameservers/) at your registrar, after you copy over the records it already uses. - [Add a DNS record](/myaccount/dns/how-to/add-a-dns-record/): an A, AAAA, or CNAME record. - [Set up email records](/myaccount/dns/how-to/set-up-email-records/): MX, SPF, and DKIM, with reverse DNS for your mail server. - [Add an SRV record](/myaccount/dns/how-to/add-an-srv-record/) for a service on a known port. - [Edit a DNS record](/myaccount/dns/how-to/edit-a-dns-record/): its value or its TTL. - [Delete a DNS record](/myaccount/dns/how-to/delete-a-dns-record/). - [Delete a domain](/myaccount/dns/how-to/delete-a-domain/) and every record in it. - [Check your domain with Diagnostics](/myaccount/dns/how-to/check-your-domain-with-diagnostics/): whether it points to E2E, and whether its TTLs are set well. - [Download a zone file](/myaccount/dns/how-to/download-a-zone-file/) of the domain's records. - [Set up reverse DNS](/myaccount/dns/how-to/set-up-reverse-dns/) for a node's public IP or a reserved IP. ## The two lists - **Manage DNS** lists your domains, with **Domain Name** and **IP Address**. Open a domain to read and change its records, see it as a zone file, and run **Diagnostics** on it. - **Manage Reverse DNS** lists each address you can set reverse DNS for, with its current name. A domain's name is shown with a dot at the end, such as `example.com.`. The dot marks a complete name, and it is part of how DNS writes every name. ## Nameservers E2E's two nameservers are: ```text ns50.e2enetworks.net.in ns51.e2enetworks.net.in ``` To see them in MyAccount, click **Nameservers** on **Manage DNS**. Set these two at your registrar in place of the domain's current nameservers; see [Point your domain to E2E nameservers](/myaccount/dns/how-to/point-your-domain-to-e2e-nameservers/). ## Record types In MyAccount you can add these six record types: | Type | Use it for | | ----- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | A | A name that points to an IPv4 address, such as your website on a node | | AAAA | A name that points to an IPv6 address | | CNAME | A name that is an alias for another name, such as `shop.example.com` for a store | | MX | The mail servers that receive email for the domain, each with a priority | | TXT | Text that other services read: SPF and DKIM for email, and domain verification | | SRV | The server and port for a service, such as a SIP or chat service | The domain's SOA and NS records are created for you when you add the domain, and they stay as they are. ## Reverse DNS Every E2E public IP has a default reverse name, set by E2E. To make an address return your own name, such as `mail.example.com`, add a custom reverse DNS record on **Manage Reverse DNS**. You can do this for the public IPs of your nodes and for your reserved IPs, IPv4 only. The name first needs an A record that points to the address, at E2E or at any other DNS provider. See [Set up reverse DNS](/myaccount/dns/how-to/set-up-reverse-dns/). [Troubleshooting DNS](/myaccount/dns/troubleshooting/dns/) explains when support sets it for you instead. ## Where to start To add your first domain and point it to E2E, follow [Get started with DNS](/myaccount/dns/get-started/). For fixes, see [Troubleshooting DNS](/myaccount/dns/troubleshooting/dns/); for short answers, see [DNS FAQ](/myaccount/dns/faq/).
