--- title: "Event Monitoring" description: "E2E Event Monitoring alerts your team by email when a node, load balancer, DBaaS instance, or Kubernetes node crosses a limit you set." content_type: "overview" product: "monitoring" platform: "MyAccount" url: "/myaccount/monitoring/" --- # Event Monitoring Event Monitoring watches your resources and tells you when something needs attention. You set an alert on a measurement, such as memory in use or free disk space, and choose the people to hear about it. When the measurement crosses the limit you set, each of them gets an email. One alert can watch many resources of the same kind at once. Event Monitoring covers four services: nodes, load balancers, DBaaS instances, and the nodes of Kubernetes clusters. ## Where to find it **Event Monitoring** in the side menu opens the **Monitoring Dashboard**, which lists your open problems. A problem is one alert's condition, or one of E2E's built-in checks, holding true on one resource. The dashboard lists the problems that began within the period you choose. It opens on **30 Minutes**. To see a resource's graphs for CPU load and utilization, disk use and operations, memory, and network traffic, select its name in the list. From the dashboard, **Manage Alerts** opens the list of your alerts, where you create, edit, pause, and delete them. On that list, **Manage Alert Groups** opens the alert groups: the lists of people your alerts notify. The dashboard and **Manage Alerts** show the problems and alerts of the project and region selected in MyAccount, Delhi or Chennai. To see another project's alerts, switch to that project first. Your MyAccount dashboard also links here. The **Monitoring Alerts** card lists your recent alerts, and **View All Alerts** in its menu opens **Manage Alerts**. ## What you can do - [Create an alert](/myaccount/monitoring/how-to/create-an-alert/) that watches one or more of your resources. - [Edit, pause, or delete an alert](/myaccount/monitoring/how-to/edit-pause-or-delete-an-alert/), including the alerts E2E adds to new resources. - [Manage alert groups](/myaccount/monitoring/how-to/manage-alert-groups/) to choose who gets each alert's notifications. - [Read the monitoring dashboard](/myaccount/monitoring/how-to/read-the-monitoring-dashboard/) to see the open problems and each resource's graphs. To understand alerts, problems, severity, and the alerts E2E sets up for you, read [Alerts and problems](/myaccount/monitoring/concepts/alerts-and-problems/). ## Alerts on a single resource You can also create an alert from the **Alerts** tab of a node, load balancer, DBaaS instance, or Kubernetes cluster. The tab opens the same alert form with that resource already chosen, and the alert is listed on **Manage Alerts** like one made there. A Webcheck alert, which watches a website on a node, is offered only on a node's **Alerts** tab. Each product's page has the steps: - [Set up alerts on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/set-up-alerts-on-a-node/) - [Monitor a load balancer](/myaccount/load-balancer/how-to/monitor-a-load-balancer/) - [Monitor a DBaaS instance and set alerts](/myaccount/database/how-to/configure-a-database-alert/) - [Monitor a cluster](/myaccount/kubernetes/how-to/monitor-a-cluster/) ## Alert groups An alert notifies one or more alert groups. An alert group is a named list of MyAccount users, and every member gets an email when an alert linked to the group fires. The account owner can also get these notifications on WhatsApp; see [How alerts reach people](/myaccount/monitoring/concepts/alerts-and-problems/#how-alerts-reach-people). The same groups are offered wherever you create an alert. Alert groups are separate from the user groups in IAM; see [Alerts and problems](/myaccount/monitoring/concepts/alerts-and-problems/#alert-groups). To make and change them, see [Manage alert groups](/myaccount/monitoring/how-to/manage-alert-groups/). ## Where to start To set up your first alert group and alert, follow [Get started with Event Monitoring](/myaccount/monitoring/get-started/). If a node's graphs are blank, see [Troubleshooting node monitoring and encryption](/myaccount/node/troubleshooting/monitoring-and-encryption/). For other fixes, see [Troubleshooting Event Monitoring](/myaccount/monitoring/troubleshooting/monitoring/). For short answers about thresholds, severity, and who is notified, see [Event Monitoring FAQ](/myaccount/monitoring/faq/).
