--- title: "Node" description: "A node is the virtual machine you create and manage from MyAccount, from the CPU, GPU, or Marketplace tab." content_type: "overview" product: "node" platform: "MyAccount" url: "/myaccount/node/" --- # Node A node is a virtual machine you create and manage from MyAccount: pick an operating system or a ready-made Marketplace product, choose a plan, and it is running within a few minutes. Your nodes are listed under **Compute > Nodes**, alongside the status, IP addresses, and actions menu for every node you have created. ## What you can do with a node Create and connect: - [Create a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/create-a-node/) - [Connect to a Linux node](/myaccount/node/how-to/connect-to-a-linux-node/) - [Connect to a Windows node](/myaccount/node/how-to/connect-to-a-windows-node/) - [Connect to a SQL Server node](/myaccount/node/how-to/connect-to-a-sql-node/) - [Open a node's console](/myaccount/node/how-to/open-the-node-console/) - [Run a script when a node starts](/myaccount/node/how-to/run-a-script-at-first-boot/) - [Launch a Marketplace node](/myaccount/node/how-to/launch-a-marketplace-node/) - [Install Node.js and npm](/myaccount/node/how-to/install-nodejs-and-npm/) Power and lifecycle: - [Power off and start a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/power-off-and-start-a-node/) - [Reboot a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/reboot-a-node/) - [Stop a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/stop-a-node/) - [Reinstall a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/reinstall-a-node/) - [Rename a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/rename-a-node/) - [Upgrade a node's plan](/myaccount/node/how-to/upgrade-node-plan/) - [Increase a node's root storage](/myaccount/node/how-to/increase-root-storage/) - [Delete a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/delete-a-node/) - [Schedule a node action](/myaccount/node/how-to/schedule-a-node-action/) - [Run an action on several nodes at once](/myaccount/node/how-to/run-an-action-on-several-nodes/) - [Convert a node to committed billing](/myaccount/node/how-to/convert-a-node-to-committed/) - [Move a node to another project](/myaccount/node/how-to/move-a-node-to-another-project/) Protect: - [Lock a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/lock-a-node/) - [Enable Accidental Protection on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/enable-accidental-protection/) - [Enable recovery mode on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/enable-recovery-mode/) Images, snapshots, and backups: - [Save a node as an image](/myaccount/node/how-to/save-a-node-as-an-image/) - [Create a snapshot of a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/create-a-snapshot/) - [Schedule snapshots for a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/schedule-snapshots/) - [Create an image from a snapshot](/myaccount/node/how-to/create-an-image-from-a-snapshot/) - [Delete a snapshot](/myaccount/node/how-to/delete-a-snapshot/) - [Enable backups on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/enable-backups-on-a-node/) - [Install the OpenNebula context package](/myaccount/node/how-to/install-the-opennebula-context-package/) - [Migrate an AWS EC2 instance to E2E](/myaccount/node/how-to/migrate-an-aws-ec2-instance-to-e2e/) Access and security: - [Add an SSH key to a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/add-an-ssh-key-to-a-node/) - [Change a node's password](/myaccount/node/how-to/change-the-node-password/) - [Activate BitNinja on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/activate-bitninja-on-a-node/) - [Enable Security Compliance on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/enable-security-compliance/) Network: - [Attach a reserved IP to a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/attach-a-reserved-ip/) - [Detach a node's public IP](/myaccount/node/how-to/detach-the-public-ip/) - [Attach an IPv6 address to a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/attach-an-ipv6-address/) - [Attach a node to a VPC](/myaccount/node/how-to/attach-a-node-to-a-vpc/) - [Attach a Floating IP to a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/attach-a-floating-ip/) Monitor: - [Set up alerts on a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/set-up-alerts-on-a-node/) ## What you will see on a node's page Click a node in **Compute > Nodes** to open its details page. It shows the node's uptime, with memory and storage charts, and a row of tabs, each for one part of the node: **Node Details**, **CDP Backup Details**, **Network**, **Security Group**, **Node Security**, **Monitoring**, **Bandwidth Monitoring**, **Snapshots**, **Alerts**, **Volumes**, **Audit Logs**, and **Scheduled Actions**, plus **GPU Monitoring** on a GPU node. **Volumes** lists each attached volume with its size and IOPS. **Audit Logs** is the node's history: a timeline of its activity, the actions you or the system ran on it, and its billing events, which is the first place to look when you want to know what changed and when. ## Where to start with nodes New to nodes? [Get started with Node](/myaccount/node/get-started/) walks you through creating one and connecting to it. Stuck on something? Start at [Troubleshooting node](/myaccount/node/troubleshooting/node/).
