Use it when you need to watch a boot, work without network access yet, or reach a node through recovery mode. ## Open the console From your node list, find the node you want and click **Access Console** in its row. A new tab opens showing the node's screen, the same as if you were sitting in front of it. You can watch it boot, and type and click into it directly. **Access Console** is available while the node's status reads **Running**. ## Where the console works Access Console works on nodes running on E2E's current hypervisor. A node still on the [older Xen hypervisor](/myaccount/node/faq/#what-is-a-node-on-the-older-xen-hypervisor) does not get it, and neither does a node flagged for abuse. During recovery mode, it is temporarily unavailable while recovery mode is still turning on. Once recovery mode has finished starting, open Access Console the same way. It takes you to the rescue disk the node booted from, instead of its normal one. See [Enable recovery mode](/myaccount/node/how-to/enable-recovery-mode). Closing the console leaves the node running as it was. For everyday work, SSH or RDP is faster; see [Connect to a Linux node](/myaccount/node/how-to/connect-to-a-linux-node/) or [Connect to a Windows node](/myaccount/node/how-to/connect-to-a-windows-node/).
