Before you do, make sure nothing still points at the address, such as a DNS record or a partner's allow list. ## Before you begin Detach the address if its status is **Attached**: - An Add-on IP: see [Detach the IP](/myaccount/reserved-ip/how-to/attach-a-reserved-ip-as-an-add-on-ip/#detach-the-ip). - A node's primary IP: see [Detach a node's public IP](/myaccount/node/how-to/detach-the-public-ip/). - A Floating IP: remove all its nodes, as in [Add or remove nodes](/myaccount/reserved-ip/how-to/use-a-reserved-ip-as-a-floating-ip/#add-or-remove-nodes). ## Delete the IP Deleting cannot be undone: once the address is back in the pool, it is no longer yours. 1. Open **Network > Reserve IP**. 2. Open the address's **Actions** menu and choose **Delete IP**. 3. Click **Delete IP** to confirm. The address leaves your list. ## Deleting an Unavailable IP An address with the status **Unavailable** is the public IP of a resource that is still running. Deleting it ends only the reservation. The resource keeps the address and carries on working, and the address goes back to the pool when that resource is deleted.
