A group can be deleted once nothing is using it: it is detached from every resource, and it is not the default. ## Before you begin - The group is not the default. If its **Default** column marks it, first [set another group as default](/myaccount/security-group/how-to/set-a-security-group-as-default/). - Nothing is attached to the group. Select it in **Network > Security Group** and check the **Associated Nodes**, **Associated Scaler**, **Associated Kubernetes**, and **Associated Load Balancer** tabs. Detach anything listed there; for a node, see [Detach a security group from a node](/myaccount/security-group/how-to/detach-a-security-group-from-a-node/). ## Delete the group A deleted group cannot be brought back, so note its rules first if you want to reuse them. 1. Open **Network > Security Group**. 2. Open the group's **Actions** menu and choose **Delete**. 3. In **Delete Security Group?**, check the name and click **Delete**. The group leaves the list. Your account now holds only the groups you use. If the delete is refused, [Troubleshooting Security Group](/myaccount/security-group/troubleshooting/security-group/) explains both messages.
