The group itself stays in your account, ready to attach again. A node always keeps at least one group, so to swap the last one, attach the new group first. ## Before you begin - A node with at least two security groups. To add one, see [Attach a security group to a node](/myaccount/security-group/how-to/attach-a-security-group-to-a-node/). ## Detach the group 1. Open **Compute > Nodes**, select the node, and open its **Security Group** tab. 2. Next to the group you want to take off, click **Detach**. 3. In **Detach Security Group**, check the group's name and click **Confirm**. The group leaves the node's list, and only the remaining groups' rules apply. If the group was the last one on the node, the dialog asks you to attach another first and offers only **Ok**. The group stays in your account, so you can [attach it again](/myaccount/security-group/how-to/attach-a-security-group-to-a-node/) whenever you need it. If it will not detach, see [Troubleshooting Security Group](/myaccount/security-group/troubleshooting/security-group/).
