You can delete it once it reads **Available**. ## Before you begin Deleting an SFS deletes its disk and every file on it, along with its snapshots. It also turns backup off, which deletes its backups, and removes its snapshot schedule. To keep the files, copy them somewhere else first, for example from a node that mounts the SFS. To keep a copy as an SFS, clone it first; see [Clone or upgrade an SFS](/myaccount/sfs/how-to/clone-or-upgrade-an-sfs/). ## Delete it 1. In **Scalable File System**, open the SFS's **Actions** menu and click **Delete**. 2. In **Confirm Delete SFS**, click **Delete**. Once it is deleted, the SFS leaves your list. Nodes that mounted it keep running: unmount the SFS on each one, and remove any `/etc/fstab` line for it, as in [Mount an SFS](/myaccount/sfs/how-to/mount-an-sfs/). If **Delete** is not available, see [Troubleshooting SFS](/myaccount/sfs/troubleshooting/sfs/#delete-is-not-available).
