--- title: "Volumes" description: "Block Storage volumes are disks you attach to a node for faster storage than object storage, sized from 100 GB to 16 TB." content_type: "overview" product: "volumes" platform: "MyAccount" url: "/myaccount/volumes/" --- # Volumes Volumes, E2E's block storage, are disks that attach to one of your nodes, giving that node a file system it can read and write like any local drive. A volume is faster than reaching an [Object Storage](/myaccount/object-storage/) bucket over the network. It fits the case where your storage needs grow faster than your computing needs: add one volume, or several, to a node without buying more node capacity. A volume attaches to one node at a time, and only that node can use it. When you detach it, its data stays with the volume, ready to attach to another node. Volumes are available in Delhi and Chennai, sized from 100 GB to 16 TB, with IOPS bundled in and scaled to the size you choose. ## How volumes, nodes, and snapshots fit together ```mermaid flowchart TD A[Create a volume] --> B[Attach it to a node] B --> C[Mount it in the node's operating system] A --> D[Take snapshots to back it up] A --> E[Upgrade its size while attached] A --> F[Detach it to move or delete it] ``` ## What you can do with Volumes Create and attach a volume: - [Create a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/create-a-volume/) in Delhi or Chennai - [Attach a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/attach-a-volume/) to a node - [Mount a volume on Linux](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/mount-a-volume-on-linux/) - [Mount a volume on Windows](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/mount-a-volume-on-windows/) - [Detach a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/detach-a-volume/) Protect your data: - [Create a volume snapshot](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/create-a-volume-snapshot/) - [Schedule volume snapshots](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/schedule-volume-snapshots/) - [Encrypt a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/encrypt-a-volume/) Grow and manage: - [Upgrade a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/upgrade-a-volume/) - [Convert a volume to committed](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/convert-a-volume-to-committed/) - [Move a volume to another project](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/move-a-volume-to-another-project/) - [Export a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/export-a-volume/) - [Import a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/import-a-volume/) - [Delete a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/delete-a-volume/) Watch its performance: - [Monitor a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/monitor-a-volume/) For files reached over the network by many machines, use [Object Storage](/myaccount/object-storage/) instead. For a node's own system disk, see [Node](/myaccount/node/). ## Where to start with Volumes [Get started with Volumes](/myaccount/volumes/get-started/) creates a volume, attaches it to a node, and makes it usable. When something fails, start at [Troubleshooting Volumes](/myaccount/volumes/troubleshooting/volumes/).
