The volume must be detached from its node before you export it. Export is available only in Delhi, and the bucket can be in Delhi or Chennai. Only unencrypted volumes can be exported. ## Before you begin - A volume in the **Available** (detached) state, in Delhi, and not encrypted. See [Detach a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/detach-a-volume/). - An Object Storage bucket, and its **Access Key** and **Secret Key**. See [Create a bucket](/myaccount/object-storage/how-to/create-a-bucket/) and [Generate an access key](/myaccount/object-storage/how-to/generate-an-access-key/). ## Export the volume 1. Open **Storage > Volumes**. 2. Select the volume, open its **Actions** menu, and choose **Export To Object Storage**. 3. Choose the **Region** where the bucket is, and the **Bucket Name**. 4. Enter the bucket's **Access Key** and **Secret Key**. 5. Click **Confirm**. The export starts and runs for a few minutes, depending on the volume's size. Leave the volume detached until the export finishes. The volume's data is now in the bucket, and [Import a volume](/myaccount/volumes/how-to/import-a-volume/) brings it back wherever you need it. For an export that fails, see [Troubleshooting Volumes](/myaccount/volumes/troubleshooting/volumes/).
