Each resource on it gets a private IP from the VPC's address range, and resources on the same VPC reach each other on those addresses. That traffic stays inside E2E's network and never crosses the public internet, much like servers on your own network in a data center. Every node already has a private IP. What a VPC adds is a network that belongs to your account alone, with an address range you choose. It is the place for anything that only your own servers should reach: a database behind your application, an internal service, or a cluster whose members talk to each other. Nodes, load balancers, Kubernetes clusters, and scale groups join a VPC, and so do databases and the Scalable File System (SFS), which you set up from their own products. Every VPC has an address range. The quick way is to let E2E pick one, a block of 512 addresses. When you need your own addresses, or want to split the network into subnets, you set a custom range instead. E2E also gives each VPC a network gateway, which carries its peering connections. A peering connection joins two of your VPCs, in the same region or across Delhi and Chennai, so that resources in one reach resources in the other through an encrypted tunnel. To connect a VPC to another cloud, such as AWS or Google Cloud, over a site-to-site VPN, you place a [Firewall](/myaccount/firewall/), E2E's FortiGate appliance, in the VPC. ## What you can do Create a VPC and put resources on it: - [Create a VPC](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/create-a-vpc/) - [Attach a node to a VPC](/myaccount/node/how-to/attach-a-node-to-a-vpc/), or choose the VPC when you [create a node](/myaccount/node/how-to/create-a-node/) Split a custom range into subnets: - [Create a subnet](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/create-a-subnet/) - [Delete a subnet](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/delete-a-subnet/) Join two VPCs: - [Peer two VPCs](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/peer-two-vpcs/) - [Control peering traffic with security groups](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/control-peering-traffic-with-security-groups/) - [Monitor a peering connection](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/monitor-a-peering-connection/) - [Pause, restart, or delete a peering connection](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/pause-restart-or-delete-a-peering-connection/) Manage the VPC: - [Convert a VPC to committed billing](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/convert-a-vpc-to-committed/) - [Delete a VPC](/myaccount/vpc/how-to/delete-a-vpc/) To choose between an E2E provided and a custom range, and to plan subnets, read [VPC address ranges](/myaccount/vpc/concepts/vpc-address-ranges/). ## Where to start [Get started with VPC](/myaccount/vpc/get-started/) creates a VPC, launches a node on it, and checks the node's private address on the new network. The [VPC FAQ](/myaccount/vpc/faq/) answers the questions people ask first, and [Troubleshooting VPC](/myaccount/vpc/troubleshooting/vpc/) walks through each message you might see.
