A group holds the services and the instance limits for a set of learners. Members are the Admins, Professors, and learners you invite. ## Before you begin Make sure that you are an Admin, that you have an [organization](/tir/ai-labs/how-to/create-an-organization/), and that you have the email address of each person you invite. ## Create a group Every organization starts with a group named **Default**, which gives every AI Labs service and the plans with 5 GB of GPU memory, one instance per plan. A learner joins **Default** unless you add them to another group. Create your own group when a set of learners needs other services, larger plans, or more instances. 1. In the organization, open the **GROUPS** tab and select **Create Group**. 2. Enter a **Name**. It can have up to 50 characters: letters, digits, spaces, underscores, and hyphens, starting and ending with a letter or a digit. Choose a name that is unique among the organization's groups. 3. Under **Access Control**, choose the services the group can use and the rights it gets on each. The services are **Node**, **Storage**, **Inference**, **External Integration**, and **API Token**, and the rights are **Read**, **Create**, **Update**, and **Delete**. Choose at least one service. 4. Under **Plan Configuration**, choose the plans the group's learners can launch. For each plan, set **Max Instances per Student**: a whole number from one up to the number of instances of that plan the organization's GPUs can hold. 5. Select **Create**. Each learner's limit on a plan covers all of that learner's instances and endpoint replicas on it. A learner in more than one group gets the limits of those groups added together. A learner who reaches the limit sees **You have reached your allowed instance quota and cannot launch any additional resources at this time.** ## Edit or delete a group Open the group to change its name, services, or plans, or to delete it. You can delete any group except **Default**, which stays in every organization. ## Add a member Choose the role that fits each person: - **Admin** runs the whole AI Labs account, across every organization. - **Professor** teaches in this organization: creates courses, adds modules and learners, and watches activity. - **Learner** takes the courses they are added to and practises within their groups' limits. 1. In the organization, select **Add Member**. 2. Enter the email address and choose the role. 3. For a learner, choose one or more groups. 4. Send the invitation. The person receives an invitation by email and joins when they accept it. To invite many people at once, upload a CSV file of addresses instead of typing each one. AI Labs gives each member the permissions their role needs. To assign specific policies instead, select **Advanced Options**. ## Change or remove a member Open the **Actions** menu of a member in the list. - To change a member's role or a learner's groups, edit the member. Moving a member to Professor or Admin clears their groups, because groups are for learners. - To remove a member, choose remove. Removing a member deletes their instances, endpoints, model repositories, integrations, and datasets, so ask them to save their work first. ## What to do next Give the new members something to work on: [create a course](/tir/ai-labs/how-to/create-a-course/) and add them to it. If AI Labs refuses a name, an address, or a service choice, see [Troubleshooting AI Labs](/tir/ai-labs/troubleshooting/ai-labs/).
