# Browse, download, and delete files

Look through the files of a repository, download one, or delete the ones you are done with.

## Before you begin

- A repository with files in it; see [Upload model files](/tir/model-repository/how-to/upload-model-files/).
- Permission to read model repositories in the project. A Member gets it through a policy that allows reading for the Inference service. Deleting a file needs the delete permission too. The portal shows only the actions your role allows.

## Browse and download

1. In the list, select the row of the repository, then open the **Model Files** tab.
2. You see one folder at a time. To go into a folder, select its name or **Open Folder**. To go back up, select the bucket or a folder in **Current Directory:**.
3. To download a file, select **Open File** or **Download File** under **Actions**. Your browser downloads the file. **Download File** works on files only.

## Delete a file

A file you delete here is deleted for good.

1. On the file's row, select **Delete** under **Actions**. Confirm in **Delete Dataset Object**.
2. Select **Delete**. TIR deletes the file.

To delete a version of a model, delete its folder or its files with the portal, the MinIO CLI, or the SDK. To remove the whole repository, see [Delete a repository](/tir/model-repository/how-to/delete-a-repository/).
