You can delete a key once you have taken it off every resource. ## See what uses a key 1. In TIR, open the account menu at the top right and select **SSH Keys**. 2. Check **In Use**: **Not in Use**, or how many resources use the key. 3. For a key in use, select its name to see each resource that uses it, with its type, project, and project owner. A key counts as in use for each instance, virtual machine, and training cluster that has it. ## Delete the key 1. Take the key off every resource that uses it. For an instance, open its **Network & Security** > **SSH**; see [Connect to an instance over SSH](/tir/tir-instance/how-to/connect-to-an-instance-over-ssh/). For a Slurm Cluster, see [Update a cluster](/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/how-to/update-a-cluster/). 2. On the **SSH Keys** page, open the menu in the key's **Actions** column and select **Delete key**. 3. In the **Delete SSH key** dialog, type the key name in **Key name**, then select **Delete key**. The key is removed from your list.
