A disk is billed from the moment you create it until you delete it, mounted or unmounted, in use or idle. Delete a disk you have finished with. ## Before you begin - Permission to delete datasets in the project. A Member gets it through a policy that allows deleting datasets. - Copies of anything you need, such as in [TIR Object Storage](/tir/tir-object-storage/). Deleting a disk is permanent. - The disk unmounted. You can delete a disk only after you unmount it from its instance or Virtual Machine. See [Unmount a disk from an instance](/tir/tir-block-storage/how-to/unmount-a-disk-from-an-instance/). ## Delete the disk 1. In **Block Storage (Disk Dataset)**, find the disk's row. 2. Under **Actions**, select **Delete Dataset**. 3. Confirm with **Delete**. For help with a message, see [Troubleshooting TIR Block Storage](/tir/tir-block-storage/troubleshooting/tir-block-storage/).
