Deleting a tag also deletes every other tag on the same content. The dialog lists them before you confirm. ## Before you begin You need a role with Delete permission on Container Registry. TIR refuses the delete while an Instance runs the tag's content or a Model Endpoint uses that image and tag. ## Delete it 1. Select the registry's row, then the image on the **Images** tab. 2. In the tag's row, select the delete button in **Actions**. 3. The **Delete Tag** dialog names the tag. If other tags share its content, the dialog lists them too, and TIR deletes them along with it. 4. Tick the box that confirms deleting the artifact permanently removes all its tags. This makes **Delete** available. 5. Select **Delete**. TIR also marks any saved images from **Save Image** that match the deleted content as deleted. If a message says the tag is in use, see [Troubleshooting TIR Container Registry](/tir/tir-container-registry/troubleshooting/tir-container-registry/#cannot-delete-this-tag-as-it-is-currently-in-use-by-one-or-more-resources). To remove all the tags of an image, see [Delete an image](/tir/tir-container-registry/how-to/delete-an-image/).
