--- title: "TIR Load Balancer" description: "Spread web traffic across your TIR VMs, inference endpoints, or Auto Scaling Groups, route it by path, method, or header, and serve it over HTTPS." content_type: "overview" product: "tir-load-balancer" platform: "TIR" url: "/tir/tir-load-balancer/" --- # TIR Load Balancer A TIR Load Balancer takes the web traffic sent to one address and spreads it across the backends you choose, after checking that they are healthy. You decide which requests go to which backends with rules, and you can send a small share of traffic to a new version before you move everything to it. The Load Balancer is available in two regions, Delhi and Chennai. ## Where to find it In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under **Compute**, select **Load Balancer**. Every Load Balancer in the project is listed there, and **Create Load Balancer** starts a new one. ## What you can do ### Create - [Create a Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/create-a-load-balancer/) of the web (HTTP/HTTPS) type, with a plan, the protocols it accepts, and its timeouts. - [Create a backend group](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/create-a-backend-group/) of VMs, inference endpoints, or an [Auto Scaling Group](/tir/tir-auto-scaling/), with its own port, health check, and balancing method. ### Route traffic - [Add a rule](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/add-a-rule/) to send the requests that match a path, method, header, or query parameter to a backend group, or to split them between two groups. ### Secure - [Use a custom domain and certificate](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/use-a-custom-domain-and-certificate/) to serve your own domain over HTTPS, with a free certificate or one you upload. - [Manage security groups](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/manage-security-groups/) to decide which traffic can reach the Load Balancer. ### Operate - [Edit a Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/edit-a-load-balancer/) to rename it. - [Change the plan](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/change-the-plan/) to change its capacity and turn **High availability** on or off. - [Monitor a Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/monitor-a-load-balancer/) with charts of requests, latency, errors, and healthy backends. - [View logs](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/view-logs/) of the Load Balancer's output. - [Set up alerts](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/set-up-alerts/) so your monitoring integrations hear about a problem. - [Delete a Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/delete-a-load-balancer/) when you have finished with it. ### Connect - [Connect an Auto Scaling Group](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/connect-an-auto-scaling-group/) so the Load Balancer sends traffic to the group's VMs. ## Learn how it works Read [How a load balancer works](/tir/tir-load-balancer/concepts/how-a-load-balancer-works/) for how a request travels from the Load Balancer to a backend, and [Billing for TIR Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/concepts/billing-options/) for how a Load Balancer is charged. ## Where to start Start with [Get started with TIR Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/get-started/), which puts a VM behind a Load Balancer and shows it answering a request.
