--- title: "Change the plan" description: "Change the plan and the High availability setting of a running TIR Load Balancer with Scale Capacity." content_type: "how-to" product: "tir-load-balancer" platform: "TIR" url: "/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/change-the-plan/" topic: ["manage"] --- # Change the plan Use **Scale Capacity** to move a Load Balancer to another plan, or to turn **High availability** on or off. The plan sets the request rate limit, the number of simultaneous connections and the size of the Load Balancer. Everything else stays as it is, including its name, protocols, timeouts and other settings. ## Before you begin - A Load Balancer in the **Running** state. **Scale Capacity** works only on a running Load Balancer. - Permission to update Load Balancers in the project. See [TIR Access Control](/tir/tir-iam/). ## Change the plan 1. Open **Scale Capacity** from the **Actions** menu of the Load Balancer in the list, or from the header of its details page. **Scale Capacity** is available once the Load Balancer has finished changing status. 2. Choose a plan. You start from the current plan and **High availability** setting, and can choose plans of the same family as the Load Balancer, in the project's region. 3. (Optional) Turn **High availability** on or off. 4. Compare the capacity **Now** and **After**. Changing the plan changes what the Load Balancer costs. For prices, see [E2E pricing](https://www.e2enetworks.com/pricing). 5. Select **Apply**. If the change fails, TIR says why, and the Load Balancer keeps its old limits and size. ## Check the new plan On the **Overview** tab, **Capacity** gives the **Request rate limit** and **Simultaneous connections** of the new plan, and **Redundancy** the current setting. To send an Auto Scaling Group's traffic through the Load Balancer next, see [Connect an Auto Scaling Group](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/connect-an-auto-scaling-group/).
