--- title: "Delete a Load Balancer" description: "Delete a TIR Load Balancer in any status, including one that failed to create, and learn what goes with it and what stays in your project." content_type: "how-to" product: "tir-load-balancer" platform: "TIR" url: "/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/delete-a-load-balancer/" topic: ["delete"] --- # Delete a Load Balancer Delete a Load Balancer when you are done with it. You can delete it in any status, including **Failed**, even while it still has rules, backend groups, an attached Auto Scaling Group, or alerts. ## Before you begin You need the delete permission on the Load Balancer service. See [TIR Access Control](/tir/tir-iam/). Deleting a Load Balancer is permanent. ## Delete the Load Balancer 1. In the side menu, under **Compute**, select **Load Balancer**. 2. In the **Actions** menu of the Load Balancer's row, select **Delete**. If you are on the details page, open the menu in the header and select **Delete** there. 3. In **Delete Load Balancer**, tick "I understand this action is irreversible". 4. Select **Delete**. The Load Balancer stays in the list until it is gone. ## What happens when you delete a Load Balancer - The Load Balancer's security groups are detached first, and then the Load Balancer is deleted. - TIR tries to remove the alerts attached to the Load Balancer, and the alerts that were made only for it. - The hourly billing of the Load Balancer ends. For prices, see [E2E's pricing page](https://www.e2enetworks.com/pricing). - Every certificate in your project stays. The one exception is the free certificate of a custom domain you removed, which is deleted with that domain. See [Use a custom domain and certificate](/tir/tir-load-balancer/how-to/use-a-custom-domain-and-certificate/). If the delete fails, the portal shows why. Try again, and if it still fails, see [Troubleshooting TIR Load Balancer](/tir/tir-load-balancer/troubleshooting/tir-load-balancer/).
