Deleting removes it for good, and the resources that still had it attached stop following its rules. ## Before you begin You need a role with Delete permission on security groups. Open the group's **Associated Services** tab to see which resources have it. To keep each of them reachable, attach another group to each one first and [detach this one](/tir/tir-security-group/how-to/attach-or-detach-a-security-group/). ## Delete the group 1. In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under **PLATFORM SERVICES**, select **Networking**, then **Security Groups**. 2. In the group's row, open the **Actions** menu and select **Delete**. 3. In **Delete Security Group**, tick "I understand and want to delete security group" with the name shown. 4. Select **Delete Security Group**. The group leaves the list, and the resources that had it stop following its rules. For help with a refused delete, see [Troubleshooting Security Groups](/tir/tir-security-group/troubleshooting/tir-security-group/).
