Its rules stay as they are. ## Before you begin You need a role with Update permission on security groups. You can edit the **Security Group Name** and the **Description** of any group except the default group, **Default-SSH-Security-Group**. ## Edit the group 1. In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under **PLATFORM SERVICES**, select **Networking**, then **Security Groups**. 2. In the group's row, open the **Actions** menu and select **Edit Security Group**. 3. Change **Security Group Name** or **Description**. A name has 1 to 255 characters: letters, digits, hyphens, and underscores. It must differ from the names of the other groups in the project and region. A description holds up to 500 characters. 4. Select **Save Changes**. The **Overview** tab shows the new name and description. To change what the group allows, see [Manage security group rules](/tir/tir-security-group/how-to/manage-security-group-rules/).
