--- title: "Convert a cluster to committed" description: "Switch a running hourly TIR Slurm Cluster to a committed plan, choose what happens when the term ends, and know what is charged up front." content_type: "how-to" product: "tir-slurm-cluster" platform: "TIR" url: "/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/how-to/convert-a-cluster-to-committed/" topic: ["manage-the-cluster"] --- # Convert a cluster to committed Move an hourly TIR Slurm Cluster to a committed plan, with a renewal policy for the end of the term. The conversion changes only the billing; the cluster keeps running and stays reachable the whole time. ## Before you begin - An hourly cluster outside a TIR Private Cluster, in any status except **Failed**, **Terminated**, or **Terminating**. **Convert to Committed** appears only for such a cluster. - Update permission on Training Clusters in the project. - Enough project credit for the whole term. You pay the full committed amount up front. - The right node count and term. A committed cluster keeps its node count for the whole term, so size the cluster first. See [Scale a cluster](/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/how-to/scale-a-cluster/). ## Convert the cluster 1. Select **Actions**, then **Convert to Committed**. The **Convert to Committed Plan** dialog opens. 2. In **Committed Plan**, choose a term. Terms are listed by length, each with its saving, such as **1 Month Savings Plan** or **1 Year Savings Plan**. E2E's price list sets which terms a plan offers. For rates, see [E2E's pricing page](https://www.e2enetworks.com/pricing). 3. In **Renewal Policy**, choose what happens when the term ends: - **Auto Renewal** renews the same committed plan. - **Convert to Hourly Plan** returns the cluster to hourly billing. - **Auto Delete** deletes the cluster at the end of the term. 4. Read the acknowledgement and select **Continue**. The acknowledgement is already ticked, and **Continue** is available while a plan is listed and the tick stays in place. ## Know what is charged You pay for the whole term at once, for every node. The dialog quotes the per-node price, and you pay that price multiplied by the node count. The conversion is permanent for the term. You can still terminate or delete a committed cluster before the term ends. The price you paid covers the whole term, so the days you do not use are not refunded. Confirm the node count and the term before you continue. Your cluster keeps running as before, now billed as committed. For how plans are chosen and billed, see [Billing and plans](/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/concepts/billing-and-plans/). To end the cluster, see [Terminate or delete a cluster](/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/how-to/terminate-or-delete-a-cluster/). For a refusal after you confirm, see [Troubleshooting TIR Slurm Cluster](/tir/tir-slurm-cluster/troubleshooting/tir-slurm-cluster/).
