Virtual machines on a CPU plan that you place on the same VPC reach each other over private addresses, with no public IP and no hop over the public internet. Use one when the machines of an application, such as a web tier and its database, need to talk to each other privately. A VPC is ready to use as soon as it is **Active**, and you can put machines on it straight away, with no routing, gateway, or address assignment to set up. Each VPC is a network of its own, so its traffic stays apart from every other VPC. **VPC** sits under **Networking** in the side menu, beside two related screens. [Reserve IP](/tir/tir-reserved-ip/) keeps an IP address for you, and [Security Groups](/tir/tir-security-group/) decide which traffic your resources accept and send. ## Where to find it In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under **PLATFORM SERVICES**, select **Networking**, then **VPC**. ## What you can do - [Create a VPC](/tir/tir-vpc/how-to/create-a-vpc/) with an address range of your own. - [Attach a VPC to a VM](/tir/tir-vm/how-to/attach-a-vpc-to-a-vm/) so the VM gets a private address on it, or switch it to another VPC. - [Rename a VPC](/tir/tir-vpc/how-to/rename-a-vpc/) when its purpose changes. - [Delete a VPC](/tir/tir-vpc/how-to/delete-a-vpc/) once every VM is detached from it. Before you create one, [VPC address ranges](/tir/tir-vpc/concepts/vpc-address-ranges/) helps you pick a range and a size, and [VPCs](/tir/tir-vpc/concepts/vpcs/) explains statuses and what can use a VPC. ## Where to start [Get started with VPC](/tir/tir-vpc/get-started/) creates a VPC and puts a VM on it. The [VPC FAQ](/tir/tir-vpc/faq/) has short answers, and [Troubleshooting VPC](/tir/tir-vpc/troubleshooting/tir-vpc/) explains each message the form shows.
