Delete a scale group

View as Markdown

Delete a scale group when you have finished with it. E2E deletes the scale group and all its nodes. The saved image it was built from stays in your account. To keep the scale group’s settings for later instead, stop it; see Resize, stop, or start a scale group.

  • The scale group reads Running, Stopped, Failed, or Failed Deleting, the states in which Delete is available. For every state, see the table in Read the scale group’s status.
  • You have copied any data you want to keep from the nodes.
  • Your role in the current project has the delete permission for Auto Scaling.

Deleting the scale group is permanent. It removes every node in it, with anything stored on the nodes.

  1. In MyAccount, under Compute, click Auto Scaling.
  2. In the scale group’s row, open Manage, and click Delete.
  3. Delete Scale Group opens and names the scale group. Check that it is the one you mean, then click Delete Scale Group, or close to cancel.

The deletion starts, and E2E deletes the scale group and all its nodes. If Delete Scale Group shows an error instead, see Sorry, an unexpected error occurred while retrieving your Scale group information.

The scale group leaves Manage Auto Scaling within about 10 seconds, and its nodes are gone within about 30 seconds of the request.

(Optional) Delete the saved image and other products

Section titled “(Optional) Delete the saved image and other products”

E2E keeps the saved image the scale group was built from, and you are charged for its storage until you delete it. You can delete it once no other scale group uses it; see Saved Images.

A load balancer or VPC you used with the scale group is a separate product with its own charges, so delete it separately if you no longer need it.

The scale group and its nodes are gone. To build a new one, see Create a scale group. To delete a scale group from a script, see the as-delete operation in the API reference.
