Delete a tag

View as Markdown

Delete a tag to remove one version of an image and keep the image itself.

Deleting a tag also deletes every other tag on the same content. The dialog lists them before you confirm.

You need a role with Delete permission on Container Registry. TIR refuses the delete while an Instance runs the tag’s content or a Model Endpoint uses that image and tag.

  1. Select the registry’s row, then the image on the Images tab.
  2. In the tag’s row, select the delete button in Actions.
  3. The Delete Tag dialog names the tag. If other tags share its content, the dialog lists them too, and TIR deletes them along with it.
  4. Tick the box that confirms deleting the artifact permanently removes all its tags. This makes Delete available.
  5. Select Delete.

TIR also marks any saved images from Save Image that match the deleted content as deleted.

If a message says the tag is in use, see Troubleshooting TIR Container Registry. To remove all the tags of an image, see Delete an image.
