Change the plan

View as Markdown

Use Scale Capacity to move a Load Balancer to another plan, or to turn High availability on or off. The plan sets the request rate limit, the number of simultaneous connections and the size of the Load Balancer. Everything else stays as it is, including its name, protocols, timeouts and other settings.

  • A Load Balancer in the Running state. Scale Capacity works only on a running Load Balancer.
  • Permission to update Load Balancers in the project. See TIR Access Control.
  1. Open Scale Capacity from the Actions menu of the Load Balancer in the list, or from the header of its details page. Scale Capacity is available once the Load Balancer has finished changing status.
  2. Choose a plan. You start from the current plan and High availability setting, and can choose plans of the same family as the Load Balancer, in the project’s region.
  3. (Optional) Turn High availability on or off.
  4. Compare the capacity Now and After. Changing the plan changes what the Load Balancer costs. For prices, see E2E pricing.
  5. Select Apply.

If the change fails, TIR says why, and the Load Balancer keeps its old limits and size.

On the Overview tab, Capacity gives the Request rate limit and Simultaneous connections of the new plan, and Redundancy the current setting.

To send an Auto Scaling Group’s traffic through the Load Balancer next, see Connect an Auto Scaling Group.
