Delete a Load Balancer

View as Markdown

Delete a Load Balancer when you are done with it. You can delete it in any status, including Failed, even while it still has rules, backend groups, an attached Auto Scaling Group, or alerts.

You need the delete permission on the Load Balancer service. See TIR Access Control.

Deleting a Load Balancer is permanent.

  1. In the side menu, under Compute, select Load Balancer.
  2. In the Actions menu of the Load Balancer’s row, select Delete. If you are on the details page, open the menu in the header and select Delete there.
  3. In Delete Load Balancer, tick “I understand this action is irreversible”.
  4. Select Delete.

The Load Balancer stays in the list until it is gone.

What happens when you delete a Load Balancer

Section titled “What happens when you delete a Load Balancer”
  • The Load Balancer’s security groups are detached first, and then the Load Balancer is deleted.
  • TIR tries to remove the alerts attached to the Load Balancer, and the alerts that were made only for it.
  • The hourly billing of the Load Balancer ends. For prices, see E2E’s pricing page.
  • Every certificate in your project stays. The one exception is the free certificate of a custom domain you removed, which is deleted with that domain. See Use a custom domain and certificate.

If the delete fails, the portal shows why. Try again, and if it still fails, see Troubleshooting TIR Load Balancer.

To start again, create a Load Balancer.
