Increase the size of an SFS

View as Markdown

Increase an SFS’s size from Manage Shared File-System whenever you need more room, up to your account’s size limit. An SFS can only get bigger, so the new size is permanent.

  • The Dataset permission in your project policy. SFS shares this permission with Object Storage, Block Storage, and Parallel File System.
  • Enough project credit for the larger size. The resize checks your credit before it applies the change.
  1. In Manage Shared File-System, open the SFS’s Actions menu and select Increase SFS Size.
  2. In the drawer that opens, set the new size with the slider or the number field. It runs from the SFS’s current size up to your account’s size limit, in steps of 50 GB, and shows the per-GB monthly price for your account’s currency. For the full price list, see E2E’s pricing page.
  3. Tick “I understand that increasing the SFS size is irreversible and cannot be decreased later.” Resize becomes available once you tick it.
  4. Select Resize.

You can resize an SFS while it is mounted. The size changes in place, and an instance using the SFS sees the new size while it keeps running. The files already on the SFS stay where they are.

Billing switches to the new size from the moment you resize, so the time before the resize is billed at the old size.

Your SFS now holds more storage, at the new monthly price. To see how much of it you are using, open Monitor an SFS.

Your account’s size limit is 64,000 GB (64 TB) unless E2E has set a different limit for you. Once the SFS is at your limit, Increase SFS Size lets you ask for more: enter the total limit you need, in GB, above your current limit, and select Request.

The request goes to E2E as a support ticket with your account, project, region, and the size you asked for. Once E2E raises your limit, come back and increase the size as in Choose the new size.

If a resize fails for another reason, see Troubleshooting TIR Shared File System.
