Delete a snapshot of a TIR Virtual Machine once you have finished with it, whether its VM still exists or has been deleted. A snapshot’s storage is billed for as long as the snapshot exists, so deleting old ones stops their charge. Snapshots stay when their VM is deleted, so you delete those here too.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need delete permission in the project. See TIR Access Control.
Delete the snapshot
Section titled “Delete the snapshot”Deleting a snapshot is permanent. Once it is gone, you can no longer restore a VM from it or create one from it, so check the name before you confirm.
- Find the snapshot. In the side menu, under Storage, select Snapshots to see every snapshot in the project, including those of deleted VMs. For a VM that still exists, you can open the VM and select its Snapshots tab instead.
- In the Actions menu of the snapshot, select Delete Snapshot.
- Select Delete.
The snapshot leaves the list. If the delete fails, TIR gives the reason. See Troubleshooting TIR Snapshots.
A snapshot shares data with the VM’s live disk, so deleting it may free less space than its Full Snapshot Size.
A schedule removes its own oldest snapshots once it has more than the number to keep, so you can leave the cleanup of scheduled snapshots to it. See Schedule VM snapshots. To take a fresh snapshot, see Create a VM snapshot.
