A zone file is the standard text form of a domain’s records, one record a line, which most DNS services can read. The Zone File tab shows your domain’s records in that form, and you can save it as a file.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”The domain must be on Manage DNS; see Add a domain.
View and download the zone file
Section titled “View and download the zone file”- In MyAccount, under Network, click DNS. In the domain’s row, click Actions, then Manage.
- Click the Zone File tab.
- To save it, click Download Zone File. Your browser saves it as
zonefile.txt.
The file starts with $ORIGIN and your domain, then $TTL 86400, the default TTL in seconds.
Then comes one line for each host name and type, with its TTL, type, and value.
Records from another provider
Section titled “Records from another provider”The zone file is for download only. To move a domain from another DNS provider, add each of its records with Add Record: the same type, host name, and value. See Add a DNS record and Set up email records.
If the domain’s answers look wrong, see Troubleshooting DNS.
