Reserve a node's public IP when you delete it

View as Markdown

A node’s own public IPv4 address goes back to E2E’s pool when you delete the node. If a domain or an external system points at that address, reserve it first, and it stays in your account for the next node.

You can reserve it at any time from the node’s Network tab, or as part of deleting the node. Either way it becomes a reserved IP, billed monthly like any other.

Use this when you plan to delete the node later, or want the address kept while the node runs. The link shows while you are under your reserved IP limit.

  1. Open the node’s Network tab.
  2. Next to the public IPv4 address, where it reads Want to reserve this Public IP., click Click here.
  3. In Reserve IP Address, click Reserve IP.

The address shows on Manage Reserved IP with the status Unavailable while the node is still running, and turns Available once you delete the node.

In the Delete Node popup, select Reserve the node’s IP before you confirm. The rest of the delete is in Delete a node.

After the node is gone, the address shows on Manage Reserved IP with the status Available. Attach it to the new node as its primary public IP and anything pointing at it reaches the new node. If you find you no longer need it, delete the reserved IP to stop the charge.
