Increase the size of a disk

View as Markdown

Increase a disk’s size from Resize Disk when it fills up. A disk can only get bigger, so the new size is permanent.

  • Permission to update datasets in the project. A Member gets it through a policy that allows updating datasets.
  • A new size above the disk’s current size and at most your disk size limit. The limit is 15,000 GB unless E2E has set a different one for you. To go past the limit, see Request a higher disk size limit.
  1. In Block Storage (Disk Dataset), select the disk’s row, then open the Resize Disk tab.
  2. Set the new size in GB. Each extra GB has a price per month. For rates, see E2E’s pricing page. Reset puts the size back to the current one.
  3. Select Update.

The new size can take a few minutes to show. To check it, open Overview and read Disk Size.

After you resize, the bill follows the new size. A disk can only get bigger, so an oversized disk keeps its cost until you delete it. To pay for less, create a smaller disk, copy the data across, and delete the old one. The bill follows the disk’s size, whatever files it holds.

If the instance still shows the old size or a resize is refused, see Troubleshooting TIR Block Storage.
