Create a private cluster, give its node to a project, and launch an instance on it. To create a private cluster, you need the Owner or Admin role on a TIR project. Prices for every plan are on E2E’s pricing page.
Create the cluster
Section titled “Create the cluster”- In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under PRODUCTS, select Private Cluster.
- Select Create Private Cluster.
- Under Select Computing Resource, on the GPU tab, choose a GPU card: H200, H100, A100, L40S, or L4, each shown with its memory size.
- Choose a plan. On-Demand bills by the hour and suits a first cluster; a savings plan, such as 1 Month Savings Plan, is paid upfront for its term and suits steady work you have already sized.
- Under Cluster Configuration, keep the generated Cluster Name, such as
p-cluster-a1b2, or type your own. Leave Node Count at 1. You can add nodes later, and the count can only go up, so start with what you need now. - Leave MIG Enable off.
- Select Create Private Cluster. If your account runs on free credit, a confirmation about your balance opens first; confirm it to continue.
TIR shows “Cluster created successfully.”, returns to Manage Private Cluster, and opens Allocate Nodes to Projects for the new cluster. Its node is Free, ready to give to a project.
Allocate the node to a project
Section titled “Allocate the node to a project”- In Allocate Nodes to Projects, choose your project.
- Set the number of nodes to 1.
- Select Allocate Nodes.
TIR shows “Allocations updated successfully” and opens the cluster’s Project Allocations tab, where your project now has one node. On Cluster Nodes, the node shows Allocated.
If you closed the dialog, open the cluster’s Actions menu in the list and select Allocate Nodes to Project.
Launch an instance on the cluster
Section titled “Launch an instance on the cluster”- Start creating an instance in the same project.
- On Select Computing Resource, switch to the Private Cluster tab and choose your cluster.
- Finish the form and create the instance.
The instance runs on your allocated node, which now shows Occupied on Cluster Nodes. You pay for the cluster’s node, and that covers the instance. The project’s Deployed Services list, on Project Allocations, shows the instance and its status.
Delete the cluster when you finish
Section titled “Delete the cluster when you finish”A cluster is billed for its nodes for as long as it exists, so delete a test cluster when you are done with it. A cluster can be deleted once every service on it is gone, so delete the instance first.
- Delete the instance. See Delete an instance.
- In Manage Private Cluster, open the cluster’s Actions menu and select Delete Cluster.
- Tick the box that confirms the cluster’s name, and select Delete Cluster.
TIR shows “Private cluster deleted successfully.” and the cluster leaves the list.
What to do next
Section titled “What to do next”- Create a private cluster covers every choice on the form, including savings plans, what happens when a term ends, and MIG.
- Allocate nodes to projects shares the cluster’s nodes across several projects and moves them between projects.
- Use node affinity keeps a workload on, or off, a chosen set of nodes.
