Rename a private cluster or add nodes to it, or both in one step, from Update Configuration.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need the Owner or Admin role on the project; only these roles can change a cluster. See Nodes, projects, and access.
Rename the cluster or add nodes
Section titled “Rename the cluster or add nodes”Add only the nodes you need now. Nodes you add stay in the cluster for good: to run the cluster with fewer nodes, you delete it and create a new one.
- In Manage Private Cluster, open the cluster’s Actions menu and select Update Configuration. You start from the cluster’s current plan.
- (Optional) Enter a new Cluster Name. A rename alone takes effect at once and leaves billing as it is.
- (Optional) Under Node Count, set how many nodes to add. You can add up to the number of nodes free for the cluster’s plan. The note under the fields reminds you that added nodes are billed by the hour and stay in the cluster until you delete it.
- Select Update Configuration.
The added nodes are billed by the hour from the moment you add them, even on a committed cluster, because the term covers only the cluster’s original nodes. They stay on hourly billing when the term renews; see Billing options for TIR Private Cluster.
Check the update
Section titled “Check the update”In Manage Private Cluster, the cluster shows its new name or its new Total Nodes, with the added nodes under Available Nodes. They are Free until you allocate them; see Allocate nodes to projects. For help with a refused update, see Troubleshooting TIR Private Cluster.
