Move a parameter group to another project

View as Markdown

A parameter group can go to another project of the same account, where you can attach it to the DBaaS instances there. Only the group’s project changes; its values stay as they are.

Move To Another Project appears only for the account owner and for users with the Admin or Project Lead role in the group’s project. See Choose a role for a user. You also need a second project in the account to receive the group; see Create a project.

Then get the group ready:

  1. In the sidebar, under Database, click Parameter Group. Then choose Move To Another Project from the group’s Actions menu.

If the group is still attached to a DBaaS instance or still carries a tag, MyAccount says which of the two is in the way.

  2. In Move Parameter Group to Another Project, use Select Project to choose where the group goes. You cannot choose the project it is in now.

  3. Confirm the move with the checkbox that names the group and the project you chose, then click Transfer.

The message Resource is transferred successfully. confirms the move, and the group no longer appears on this project’s Parameter Group list. When MyAccount refuses the move, the group stays where it is; Troubleshooting DBaaS explains the reason.

Open the project list in the header and choose the project that now holds the group. See Create a project. The group is on that project’s Parameter Group page.

When the DBaaS instance that used the group is moving too, the two go one at a time. The group comes off the instance first, and goes back on once both are in the new project. The full order is in Move the parameter group too.

The group is now ready to attach to a DBaaS instance in that project. See Attach a parameter group to a DBaaS instance.
