Create a VPC

View as Markdown

A VPC gives your resources in one region a private network of their own. Create one before you put a node, load balancer, or database on it; it takes a few minutes to be ready.

  • A MyAccount account, and the project and region the VPC should belong to. A VPC serves one region, Delhi or Chennai, and only resources in that region can join it.
  • Room for one more VPC. An account has up to three VPCs in each region; to have more, contact E2E at cloud-platform@e2enetworks.com.
  • On a prepaid account, enough infra credits to cover the VPC. If you are short, the form tells you how many more you need.
  • If you want your own address range, the range you plan to use. See VPC address ranges for what a range can be.
  1. Open Network > VPC and click Create VPC. Create Virtual Private Cloud opens.
  2. Keep the suggested VPC Name, such as VPC-482, or type your own: up to 50 letters, digits, underscores, and hyphens, and different from your other VPCs’ names in the region. Pick a name that says what the network is for, since it stays with the VPC for good.
  3. Under Select CIDR Option, choose how the VPC gets its addresses:
    • E2E provided IPv4 CIDR, selected by default, has E2E pick a range of 512 addresses. Take this unless you need subnets or a range of your own.
    • Custom CIDR lets you choose the range yourself and split it into subnets. Enter it in IPv4 CIDR, for example 10.20.0.0/23, and the form shows its IP Size as you type. VPC address ranges lists the ranges you can use. Resources that need CDP Backup, Monitoring, Security Compliance, or Kubernetes belong on an E2E provided range; VPC address ranges explains the choice.

Under Select an Hourly / Committed Plan, pick how the VPC is billed. Prices are on the E2E pricing page.

  • Hourly bills for the hours the VPC exists. Choose it for a network you are trying out or may delete soon.
  • A Committed plan pays for a set term, from 30 days to 1,095 days, at a price agreed up front. Each plan shows its effective hourly rate, so you can compare it with Hourly. Choose it for a network you will keep for the whole term. You can also start hourly and convert to committed later.

With a committed plan, choose what happens when the term ends: Auto-renew the committed period starts a new term on the same plan, and Switch to hourly billing keeps the VPC at the base hourly rate. Then tick the box that confirms the full cost of the term: it is charged to your account, or deducted from your infra credits on a prepaid account.

Click Create VPC Network. A message confirms that an address range has been generated for the VPC; close it to return to Manage Virtual Private Cloud. Any other message comes with its fix in Troubleshooting VPC.

If the form shows Request instead of Create VPC Network, the plan is not available at the moment. Click Request, and E2E contacts you once it is available.

The new VPC appears in the list as Creating, and turns Active after a few minutes. Select it to see its VPC Details: the CIDR you chose or E2E picked, the Available IPv4 addresses, and the Network Gateway that E2E created with it. Its other tabs and actions open once it is Active.

Your VPC is ready for resources. To put a node on it, see Attach a node to a VPC, or pick the VPC under VPC when you create a node. With a custom range, you can create a subnet first.
