Deleting a subnet frees its block of addresses in the VPC, so you can use the range again or delete the VPC itself. A subnet can go once no resource holds an address in it.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- Nothing is using the subnet’s addresses. Select the VPC in Network > VPC, open its Subnet
tab, and check that the subnet’s Used/Total IPs starts with
0. If it does not, move or remove the resources first: for a node, detach the VPC as Attach a node to a VPC describes, or delete the node. A subnet still in use is refused with “Subnet cannot be deleted as it has active IPs assigned.”, and Troubleshooting VPC shows how to find what holds it.
Delete the subnet
Section titled “Delete the subnet”- On the VPC’s Subnet tab, open the subnet’s actions menu and choose Delete Subnet.
- In Delete Subnet, check the name and click Delete.
The subnet leaves the Subnet tab, and its block is free again. To remove the whole VPC next, see Delete a VPC.
