Deleting a VPC removes the network, its gateway, and its address range from your account, and billing for it stops. A VPC can be deleted once it is empty: no resources, no subnets, and no peering connections.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”Select the VPC in Network > VPC and work through its tabs:
- Associated Nodes, Associated Load Balancers, Associated Kubernetes, and Associated Scale Groups list nothing. For a node, detach the VPC as Attach a node to a VPC describes, or delete the node. A load balancer, Kubernetes cluster, scale group, or database is moved off or deleted from its own product.
- Subnet lists no subnets. See Delete a subnet.
- Peering Connections lists no connections. See Pause, restart, or delete a peering connection.
- The VPC is Active.
Delete the VPC
Section titled “Delete the VPC”A deleted VPC cannot be brought back. If you will build it again, note its CIDR and its settings first.
- Open the VPC’s actions menu and choose Delete VPC.
- In Delete VPC, tick I understand and I want to delete this VPC: followed by its name, and click Delete.
A message confirms the delete, and the VPC leaves the list.
For a committed VPC, the dialog first warns that the VPC is reserved until the end of its term. You have already paid for the term, and that charge stands if you delete early.
Each message a delete can show, and the thing on the VPC it points to, is in Troubleshooting VPC.
