Create a VPC, a private network in your project with an address range you choose. Resources you place on it reach each other over private addresses instead of the public internet.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need a TIR project in Delhi or Chennai and a role with Create permission on VPCs. Create the VPC in the project and region of the machines that will use it.
Choose the range before you start. It is fixed once the VPC exists, so size it for where you expect to be. For help with the size, see VPC address ranges.
Open the form
Section titled “Open the form”In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under PLATFORM SERVICES, select Networking, then VPC. The page lists the VPCs of the project and region. Select Create VPC.
Name the VPC
Section titled “Name the VPC”In VPC Name, keep the suggested name or type your own. A name has up to 50 characters, starts with a letter, ends
with a letter or digit, and uses only letters, digits, hyphens, and underscores in between. Each name must be unique
within the project and region, and default is reserved in any mix of upper and lower case.
Set the range
Section titled “Set the range”In IPv4 CIDR Block, type a private range, for example 192.168.50.0/24. Available ranges above the field list
what you can use. The prefix must be between /16 and /28. As you type, the form checks the range and
shows “Available.” or the reason it is refused. Write the range from its first address, as in 172.16.231.0/24 rather
than 172.16.231.5/24.
Create it
Section titled “Create it”Once the range passes the check, Create VPC becomes available. Select it.
When the VPC is ready
Section titled “When the VPC is ready”The new VPC is at the top of the list with Status Creating, and it turns Active by itself once it is ready. Select the VPC to see its Overview: Name, Status, CIDR, Network Mask, and Created By.
Once the VPC is Active, put a VM on a CPU plan on it: choose the VPC when you create the VM, or attach it to a VM you already have. For help with a message about the range or name, see Troubleshooting VPC.
