Rename a VPC

Give a VPC a new name. The name is only a label, so everything that uses the VPC carries on as before, and the address range stays the same.

Before you begin

You need a role with Update permission on VPCs. The new name follows the rules from Create a VPC. It has up to 50 characters of letters, digits, hyphens, and underscores, starts with a letter, and ends with a letter or digit. It must be unique within the project and region, and default is reserved.

Rename the VPC

1. In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under PLATFORM SERVICES, select Networking, then VPC.
2. Either open the Actions menu in the VPC’s row and select Rename, or select the VPC and edit Name in the Overview.
3. In Rename VPC, change VPC Name.
4. Select Save, which becomes available once the new name differs from the current one.

Check the new name

The list and the Overview show the new name.
