Create a VPC and put a CPU virtual machine on it, so the machine has a private address that other machines on the same VPC can reach.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need a TIR project in Delhi or Chennai, and a role that lets you create VPCs and update VMs.
Create a VPC
Section titled “Create a VPC”- In TIR, open your project. In the side menu, under PLATFORM SERVICES, select Networking, then VPC, then Create VPC.
- Keep or change the suggested VPC Name.
- In IPv4 CIDR Block, type a private range such as
192.168.50.0/24. A/24gives 247 addresses, a good size for most projects. The range is fixed once the VPC exists, so leave room to grow. The form lists the ranges you can use and checks yours as you type. - Select Create VPC.
The VPC shows Creating and turns Active by itself when it is ready. For help choosing a range, see VPC address ranges.
Put a VM on the VPC
Section titled “Put a VM on the VPC”When you create a VM on a CPU plan, choose the VPC under VPC in Network & Security. For a VM you already have, use Attach VPC on the VM. The VM restarts to pick up the VPC. See Attach a VPC to a VM.
Check the private address
Section titled “Check the private address”Once the VM is running again, it has a private address inside the VPC’s range, and VMs on the same VPC reach each other on those addresses. On the VPC list, Available IPs is how many addresses are still free, out of all the VPC can hand out.
What to do next
Section titled “What to do next”- Control which traffic reaches the VMs with Security Groups.
- To give a GPU instance or an inference service a private address, reserve an IP of Type Private from a VPC in your E2E MyAccount project. See Reserve an IP.
- For help with any message, see Troubleshooting VPC.
