A bucket holds the objects you store. The region, Object Lock, and encryption are set here for good. You can turn Object Versioning on or suspend it at any time. Open Storage > Object Storage and click Add Bucket.
Name the bucket and pick a region
Section titled “Name the bucket and pick a region”Enter a name of 3 to 63 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, starting and ending
with a letter or number, and not formatted like an IP address (for example, 203.0.113.1). It must be unique across every E2E Object Storage
account, not only yours, and it stays fixed once created. Choose Delhi or Chennai: a bucket stays in
the region you pick, so choose the one closest to where you will use it, or where a partner bucket
for replication already lives.
Choose Object Versioning
Section titled “Choose Object Versioning”Check Enable Object Versioning to keep every version of every object instead of overwriting it on the next upload. You can turn this on later too, so it is safe to leave unchecked for now if you are not sure yet; see Turn on Object Versioning.
Choose Object Lock
Section titled “Choose Object Lock”Check Enable Object Lock only if you need write-once-read-many protection on this bucket’s objects. Decide now, because this choice is permanent. It also turns Object Versioning on and keeps it on. See Object Lock before you decide, and Lock objects with Object Lock for what to do once the bucket exists.
Choose E2E Managed Encryption
Section titled “Choose E2E Managed Encryption”Check Enable E2E Managed Encryption to have E2E encrypt every object in this bucket automatically; it starts unchecked. This is the one place to turn it on for the bucket, so decide now. To manage your own encryption key on individual objects instead, or as well, see Encrypt objects with your own key.
Create the bucket
Section titled “Create the bucket”Click Create Bucket. The bucket appears in your bucket list right away, empty and ready for objects; an empty bucket costs nothing to store. If the name is refused, see Troubleshooting E2E Object Storage for what each message means.
Next, see Generate an access key so a script, an app, or a command-line tool can reach the bucket. To add files from the dashboard, see Upload and download objects.
