Upgrading makes a volume larger: you choose a bigger size from its Actions menu. The volume must be attached to a node and on an hourly plan, and the size can only go up.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- A volume attached to a node and on an hourly plan. See Attach a volume.
A volume with a snapshot cannot be upgraded
Section titled “A volume with a snapshot cannot be upgraded”If the volume has a snapshot, the upgrade is blocked until you deal with it: delete the snapshot, or create a new volume from it and upgrade that new volume.
Upgrade the volume
Section titled “Upgrade the volume”- Open Storage > Volumes.
- Select the volume, open its Actions menu, and choose Upgrade Volume.
- Choose the new, larger size.
- Click Upgrade.
The volume is resized to the new size. If Upgrade Volume is unavailable, the volume is not attached, is part of a committed plan, or has a snapshot. See Troubleshooting Volumes for how to handle each.
The extra space is yours once you extend the file system to fill it.
